BLOG ISSUE 4)
I guess the big news this weekend was our very own ambassador for William Hill. The legendary Tony McCoy announcing his retirement at the end of this season. I am sure he will be going out on a high and crowned for the 20th time, champion jockey. With over 4,350 winner's, the very best of them being the Cheltenham Gold Cup in 1997!?!?.......
I have had the pleasure of meeting him twice but very unlike me, I was well and truly lost for words. Nobody can ever truly understand the dedication, determination and physical pain that this young man has put his body through over the last 30 years. Let's hope he continues to fly the William Hill flag high....
Oh and for all the Spurs fans on the district a fantastic result down at the Lane on Saturday. Well deserved by all accounts....? (The same can be said about our HAPPY Hammer's) Results went with the bookies this weekend on the back of the Man City / Real Madrid / Man United results. The tables have turned.
From a district perspective the Mystery Visits have been average. As I posted in last week's blog, we should all be looking to highlight and offer our fantastic PROMOTIONS. This unfortunately has not happened !!
As you can see on the Roll of Honour link we have now had 9 visits and only ONE branch managed to offer a promotion!! (Lower Ed) This really is not acceptable and all new faces/customers should be offered a promotion and at the very least they should be discussed. On all my shop visits last week I was also disappointed with our staff's understanding of our offers. On Saturday we had some fabulous prices enhanced, not sure if we relayed this message...
I will continue to monitor this and will see if the remaining LBOs to be visited, will be offered a daily focus promotion ?
Well done to the Brimsdown shop team with there COE, good work!
Well, what can I say about my tipster section last week? 2 WINNERS and a NR that's what I call happy days. Even I can't moan about only getting 7/2 for Coneygree but with 7/1 Subtle Gray . I was extremely content and that's putting it mildly. Oh, I also managed to win lunch from Khale de Costa in Hatch Lane on Wed, easy money!
Quick update on the jumps, fantastic work by all the district updating all our customers. The leaders so far are
Dursum 171 pts Chingford
Mr.Norwood 168 pts Durants
Colin 160 pts Hoddesdon
Patsy 160 pts Ponders End
I am pretty sure we are the only district in the country talking about the Jumps in Feb.
Great work, I am sure all our customers appreciate our efforts. (Special mention for Brian Wilcox in Ponders End, for all his hard work)
I have been asked by one of the members of staff, do I back my tipped selections, the answer is yes, two single bets and a £5 double last week. I shall let your New Starters put that it in the OTT......
